Steinakirchen am Forst, Lower Austria, market town in the district of
Scheibbs, alt. 324 m, pop. 2,319, area 34.97 km%%sup 2/%, in
the valley of the River Kleine Erlauf; forms an administrative unit
with the municipalities of Wang and Wolfpassing. - District office of
the Austrian Water Guard, golf course; trades. - Late-Gothic parish
church (15%%sup th/% century), hall church with abundant stellar and
net ribbed vaults (box-shaped capitals), high altar (1693); castle
(1530-1540) in Ernegg, irregular rectangular construction with arcaded
courtyard, altered in 1836; chapel (1330, renovated in 1675).
