Stickler, Alfons Maria, b. Neunkirchen (Lower Austria), Aug. 23, 
1910, Salesian, theologian, since 1985 cardinal. Was ordained priest 
1937, professor of canon law and ecclesiastical history at the 
ecclesiastical university in Rome, 1955 Director of the Institutum 
Historicum Iuris Canonici, 1958-1966 Rector of the Papal University. 
Renovated the Vatican Library and archives; publications in the field 
of canon law.
