Stiegl Brewery, traditional brewery in Salzburg, first documented 
mention in 1429, 1523 as "Prewhaus bey dem Stieglein" 
(Brewery near the stairs). Headed by the Huemer-Kiener family since 
1887, largest Austrian private brewery; in 1993, 567,000 hl of beer 
were produced. Turnover: ATS 831 million, 430 employees. Public 
brewery museum and adventure brewery.
