!!!Stille Nacht heilige Nacht

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht (Silent Night, Holy Night) world famous
Christmas carol by Joseph Mohr (lyrics) and Franz Gruber (music). It
was first sung in duet accompanied by guitars during the Christmas
mass in the village church of Oberndorf near Salzburg on December 24,
1818. Groups of singers from the Ziller valley brought the -
presumably Tirolean - folk song to Germany, from where it spread all
across Europe and the whole world. Investigations later revealed the
names of its authors. First edition by A. R. Friese after 1832,
Dresden and Leipzig (Germany).
