metal worker and politician (Austrian Socialist Party, SPOe). 
1966-1983 Party Secretary of the SPOe Burgenland and 1991-1998 
provincial party chairman, 1975-1982 member of the Landtag, 1982-2000 
member of the Provincial Government, 1991-2000 Landeshauptmann of the 
province of Burgenland.
