Stix, Robert, B. Vienna, July 27, 1903, 
d. Vienna, April 27, 1974, electrical engineer. Studied 
electrical engineering at Vienna University of Technology; 
subsequently in the employ of Siemens-Schuckert-Werke, where he gained 
recognition as an expert in mono and multiphase alternating-current 
commutator motor technology. His designs provided the basis for the 
motors of the Series 1042 locomotives of the Austrian Federal 
Railways. From 1952 to 1973 Professor for Electrical Machinery at 
Vienna University of Technology.
