Stock im Eisen, medieval mythical landmark of Vienna, first mentioned 
in 1533, part of a tree trunk with an iron band wrapped around it, 
densely studded with nails, erected at the corner of the Kaerntner 
Strasse pedestrian zone and Stephansplatz square (Stock-im-Eisen-Platz 
square in Vienna´s 1%%sup st/%  district).
