b. Vienna, Jan. 2, 1952; economist. Studied political economy, 
political science and history in Vienna and Paris; post-graduate 
course in Bruges. 1981-1989 worked for the Austrian broadcasting 
corporation ORF, 1990/1991 head of the PR department for the Expo 
Vienna. 1991 became managing director of the Niederoesterreichische 
Landeshauptstadt Planungs GmbH St. Poelten (for planning the 
provincial capital); since 1996 head of the permanent mission of the 
European Commission in Austria.
