Strobl, Karl Hans, b. Jihlava, Czech Republic (then Iglau), Jan. 18, 1877, 
d. Perchtoldsdorf (Lower Austria), March 10, 1946, writer. Law 
graduate, employed in the civil service in Jihlava and Brno until 
1913, subsequently magazine editor in Leipzig; front-line reporter in 
World War I, after 1918 writer in Perchtoldsdorf, 1938 director of the 
Vienna "Reichsschrifttumskammer", the Nazi professional association of 
writers, in which membership was compulsory. Wrote several highly 
popular novels on student life and historical subjects in a German 
nationalist spirit ("Bismarck", 3 vols., 1915-1919); also fantastic 
("Gespenster im Sumpf", 1920) and humorous books.
