!!!Strudel Strudl, Peter
Strudel (Strudl), Peter, b. Cles (Italy), around 1660,
d. Vienna, Oct. 4, 1714, painter, sculptor; brother of Paul Strudel.
Founder of the oldest art academy in Central Europe ( Akademie der
bildenden Kuenste in Wien, Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna), 1686 came
to the court of Vienna as painter. In 1692 founded a private art
school at his residence, the "Strudelhof" in the 9th district of
Vienna (today only the "Strudlhofstiege" staircase is still extant),
which was recognized as an official institute in 1705.

statues of the Habsburgs in the dome hall of the Austrian
National Library and in Laxenburg Palace, around 1700 (with Paul S.);
altar pieces in Garsten (1688), Klosterneuburg (1700), Pottendorf and
Vienna (Rochuskirche, 1700).
