!!!Stubenberg, Adelsfamilie Stubenberg, noble family from Styria, descends from a family of estate officials; family seat at Kapfenberg. Played an important role during the rise of Rudolf von Habsburg. During the reign of Ferdinand II, various Protestant family members emigrated to Germany; 1610-1620 the family also held estates in Bohemia. In 1641 J. W. Count Stubenberg acquired Schallaburg Palace. Other members of the family were governors of Styria; the family died out in 1868. \\ Their former palace in Graz (Hans-Sachs-Gasse 1) was built under Georg von S. in 1691. It used to house the provincial art museum, but was largely destroyed during World War II. !Literature J. Loserth, Geschichte des altsteir.
