!!!Stubenberg, Adelsfamilie

Stubenberg, noble family from Styria, descends from a family of estate
officials; family seat at Kapfenberg. Played an important role during
the rise of Rudolf von Habsburg. During the reign of Ferdinand II,
various Protestant family members emigrated to Germany; 1610-1620 the
family also held estates in Bohemia. In 1641 J. W. Count Stubenberg
acquired Schallaburg Palace. Other members of the family were
governors of Styria; the family died out in 1868.

\\
Their former palace in Graz (Hans-Sachs-Gasse 1) was built under Georg
von S. in 1691. It used to house the provincial art museum, but was
largely destroyed during World War II.
