b. Lilienfeld (Lower Austria), Aug. 15, 1942. Protestant clergyman. 
Studied Protestant theology in Vienna, Heidelberg and Zurich. 
1968-1980 parish priest in Lienz, 1980-1988 in Klagenfurt; 1985 became 
deputy superintendent, in 1988 superintendent of Carinthia and the 
Eastern Tyrol. Lutheran bishop in Austria since 1996.
