!!!Stuwer, Feuerwerkerfamilie

Stuwer, Viennese family of pyrotechnists in the 18th and 19th 
centuries. Johann Georg S. from Ingolstadt held his first firework 
display in the Prater park in Vienna on May 27, 1774. Was followed by 
his son Caspar S. (d. Feb. 10, 1819) in 1799. Caspar's son Anton S. 
(d. Jan. 5, 1858) brought Viennese pyrotechnics to perfection. Anton 
S. the Younger had to give way to the Great Exhibition of 1873 and 
left Vienna for good in 1876 after one last spectacular firework 
display.
