Suess, Franz Eduard, b. Vienna, Oct. 7, 1867, 
d. Vienna, Jan. 25, 1941, geologist. Son of Eduard  Suess. 1893-1908 
at the Imperial Institute of Geology in Vienna, 1908-1910 Professor at 
the Technical College in Prague, 1911-1938 Professor at the University 
of Vienna. Fundamental work on crystalline bedrock, in particular the 
Bohemian Mass; in addition, hydrogeological studies and exploration of 
the moldavites.
