!!!Teschner, Richard

b. Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic (then Karlsbad), March 22, 1879, 
d. Vienna, July 4, 1948, sculptor, painter, graphic artist, artisan. 
Studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts and at the Vienna School of 
Arts and Crafts. From 1909 in Vienna, worked for the Wiener 
Werkstaette; created elaborate stick puppets according to Javanese 
models as well as costumes and decorations, and wrote plays for his 
puppet theatre, performing them on a small, shrine-like stage, 
"Goldener Schrein", 1912-1932 and in the "Figurenspiegel" (concave 
mirror with light effects, preserved in the Austrian theatre museum in 
Vienna) 1932-1948. Also produced paintings and sculptures, book 
illuminations and ex-libris designs.
