b. Vienna, July 23, 1900, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 17, 1991, actor, Kammerschauspieler; stage director, 
youngest son of Hugo  Thimig, brother of Hermann  Thimig and Helene  
Thimig-Reinhardt. Character actor with sophisticated humour; 1916 
debut at the Vienna Volkstheater; 1918-1924 and 1949-1966 at the 
Burgtheater, later as guest performer (last 1983), 1980 honorary 
member; 1924-1933 and 1935-1943 at the Theater in der Josefstadt; from 
1923 participated regularly in the Salzburg Festival; 1942-1949 worked 
as independent actor and director for both theatre and film; 1946 and 
1959/60 director of the renowned Reinhardt Seminar (drama school); 
radio actor ("Radio-Familie", "Besuch am Montag").
