b. Vienna, June 5, 1889, 
d. Vienna, Nov. 7, 1974, actress, Kammerschauspielerin, daughter of 
Hugo  Thimig, sister of Hermann  Thimig and Hans  Thimig, wife of M.  
Reinhardt. From 1908-1911 first engagement in Meiningen, 1911-1917 at 
the Royal Theatre in Berlin, 1917-1933 at the Deutsches Theater in 
Berlin under M. Reinhardt and from 1933 at the Theater in der 
Josefstadt; 1937 emigrated to the USA, where she directed the M. 
Reinhardt Workshop 1938-1941, from 1944 acted in films in Hollywood; 
after her return, at the Burgtheater 1946-1968, from 1954 also at the 
Theater in der Josefstadt; directed several productions of  
"Jedermann" at the Salzburg Festival, 1948-1959 directed the Reinhardt 
Seminar drama school in Vienna, 1948-1954 and 1960 taught at the 
Academy of Music and Performing Arts; many awards.
