!!!Thuille, Ludwig

b. Bozen/Bolzano (South Tyrol), Nov. 30, 1861, 
d. Munich (Germany), Feb. 5, 1907, late Romantic composer. Received 
his musical training at Kremsmuenster, from 1879 lived in Munich; 1890 
taught at the Royal School of Music; he and R.  Strauss had already 
been friends as children. Thuille became known in particular for his 
"Harmonielehre" (1907, still a standard work). His only successful 
composition was the opera "Lobetanz" (1896).
