!!!Trattner, Johann Thomas von

b. Jormannsdorf (municipality of Bad Tatzmannsdorf, Burgenland), Nov. 11, 1717, 
d. Vienna, July 31, 1798, book printer, publisher and seller. Took 
over a printing house in 1748 in Vienna, in 1752 became Imperial 
Bookseller with the help of G. van  Swieten, in 1754 Imperial Printer; 
was contracted in 1752 to print all textbooks and schoolbooks made in 
Austria, for this purpose established a large business in Lerchenfeld. 
1767 and 1786 set up paper factories in Franzensthal at Ebergassing 
(Lower Austria, later  Neusiedler AG). Many of those working for him 
founded printing works in Austrian cities. In 1773 he had the T.-Hof 
built on the site of the former Freisingerhof on Graben in Vienna's 
1st district. In 1912 this was replaced by two new buildings. G. 
Ueberreuter later acquired the printing shop and the publishing house.
