!!!Trautenfels

Trautenfels Palace, Styria, palace in the district of Liezen situated 
in the municipality of Puergg-Trautenfels ( Puergg) on an isolated 
hill at the foot of Grimming mountain (alt. 673 m, 
documented mention in 1260/1262). In the Middle Ages (1260/62) it 
served to block passage through the valley; called Neuhaus up to the 
16%%sup th/%  century. Alterations between 1670 and 1672 gave the 
castle its present form; since then called Trautenfels Palace. 
Magnificent rectangular building with roofed courtyards and a mighty 
tower, with fine interior on the upper floor (1670-1673), frescoes and 
paintings in the gallery and in many rooms of the "bel 
etage" (upper floor); free standing palace chapel; 5 bastions; 
today museum of the history and culture of the Ennstal valley, part of 
the Styrian provincial museum  Joanneum.
