Vienna, June 4, 1842, librettist and translator. 1800 started acting at the Imperial Vienna Opera House; 1802 dramatist and poet; 1809-1814 director of the Theater an der Wien (from 1811 again at the Imperial Opera House). Mainly wrote singspiel librettos for P. Wranitzky, A. Gyrowetz and C. Weigl ("Das Waisenhaus"); numerous translations of French operas.
