b. St. Ulrich/Ortisei (South Tyrol), Oct. 4, 1892, 
d. Bozen/Bolzano (South Tyrol), April 12, 1990, film actor and 
director, author. Initially had a joint architecture studio with C.  
Holzmeister, 1923 hired as an actor by A. Fanck for "Der Berg des 
Schicksals". From 1930 worked as both actor and director, in films 
such as "Berge in Flammen" (1931), "Der Rebell" (1932), "Der verlorene 
Sohn" (1934), "Condottieri" (1937), "Sein bester Freund" (1962).

Novels: Heimat aus Gottes Hand, 1947; Duell in den Bergen, 1951 
(as film in 1949); Glocken ueber den Bergen, 1952; Schicksal am 
Matterhorn, 1956; Das Wunder von Oberammergau, 1960; Der Kaiser von 
Kalifornien, 1961 (as film in 1936). - Illustrated book and 
approximately 20 films. - Autobiography: Mein glueckl. Leben, 1982.
