b. Trautmannsdorf (Lower Austria), Oct. 31, 1904, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 4, 1969, lawyer and politician (Austrian Social 
Democratic Party, SPOe). From 1923 in the SDAP (Southern German Labour 
Party), arrested in 1934. 1945 temporary mayor of Kiel, 1946-1960 
member of the Nationalrat, 1949-1952 and 1956-1960 Federal Minister of 
Justice, 1960-1969 deputy Landeshauptmann of the province of Lower 
Austria.
