b. Obergraden bei Koeflach (Styria), Sept. 24, 1792, 
d. Graz (Styria), Oct. 10, 1877, painter of historical scenes and 
portraits, Nazarene, father of the painter Silvia T. Studied at the 
Vienna Academy; from 1821 to 23 in Istria, then until 1831 in Rome, 
worked with F. Overbeck and the Lukas brothers, worked solely for the 
Catholic Church, created numerous altar paintings for Styrian 
churches. From 1840 director of the Academy of Drawing and Picture 
Gallery in Graz.
