!!!Tuxer Alpen

Tux Alps, mountain range in the Central Alps between the Wipp Valley 
and the Ziller Valley in the Tirol, many different rock formations: 
Innsbruck quartz phyllite in the north, Tauern slate nappe in the 
south, Mesozoic limestone in the Wattener Lizum. Separated from the  
Zillertal Alps by the Tuxer Joch saddle (2,338 m). Mostly quartz 
phyllites and slate rock formations, mountains with rounded peaks and 
many alpine meadows. The highest peaks are: Lizumer Reckner mountain 
(2,886 m), Rastkogel mountain (2,762 m) and Hirzer mountain 
(2,725 m). Mountains with a superb view are Kellerjoch mountain 
(2,344 m) near Schwaz and  Patscherkofel Mountain (2,246 m); 
winter sports areas around the villages Lanersbach, Mayrhofen, Stumm 
and Igls; training area for field exercise; mountain refuges: 
Tuxer-Joch-Haus (2,316 m), Kellerjochhuette (2237 m), 
Lizumer Huette (2,019 m), etc.
