geologist and paleontologist. From 1891 university professor in 
Prague, from 1900 in Vienna (paleontology and geology). Founding 
member and president of the Geological Society of Vienna. Geological 
and tectonic research (Alps, Carpathians), paleontological work 
(Cretaceous ammonites).
