Universalbankalitaet, 2%%sup nd/%  attempt to establish a State Bank 
(1714), after the failure of "Banco del Giro", established 
in 1703. Attempted to combine the servicing of the public debt with 
the functions of a treasury and a credit institution. As a bank it was 
not accepted by the public, so that its function was reduced to that 
of a treasury in 1722. Abolished by Empress Maria Theresia in 1745.
