VAMED AG, company specialised in technical medical facilities and 
services, successor to a subsidiary of the nationalised VOEST-Alpine 
company (  (see) VOEST), spun off and privatised in 1996. Active in 
many European, Asian and African countries; manufactures, operates and 
manages hospitals and other health institutions. Sales in 1997 
amounted to  ATS 2.1 billion.
