Valenta, Rudolf, b. Vienna, Feb. 25, 1963, physician. 
Studied at the University of Vienna; since 1993 professor of general 
and experimental pathology at this institution and head of the 
Molecular Immunopathology group in the Division of Immunopathology. 
His main area of research is molecular allergology; he is working on 
the development of a vaccine against pollen allergies through genetic 
engineering. Received the Karl Landsteiner Award in 1992 and the 
International Award of the Pharmacia Allergy Research Foundation in 
1996.
