!!!Valkenauer, Hans

Valkenauer, Hans, b. around 1448, 
d. after 1518, sculptor. Presumed to be originally from the Salzburg 
area. Main exponent of the late Gothic sculpture of Salzburg. In the 
tradition of the 15th century created numerous monumental tombs, 
mostly out of red-mottled Salzburg marble. From 1514 worked for 
Maximilian I on a monument for the Roman Emperor in Speyer which was 
never completed (parts of it may be seen in the Carolino Augusteum 
museum in Salzburg).

Oberthalheim church (Voecklabruck), after 1512; tomb of Archbishop 
Leonhard von Keutschach, Hohensalzburg Castle, 1515; grave stone of 
Hochmeister J. Geumann, Millstatt, around 1515.
