Verda, de, family of masterbuilders and stonemasons from Gandria (Lake 
Lugano). There is evidence that Alessandro de Verda lived in Graz 
until 1601; 1587-1592 he designed and supervised the construction of 
the mausoleum for Archduke Karl II at Seckau. His brother, Giovanni 
Antonio de Verda, settled in Graz in 1558; took part in the 
construction of the fortification of Graz, built the Landhaus 
(premises of the Provincial Government) at Klagenfurt (1580-1587) and 
Strassburg castle (Carinthia, 1584).
