Verdross-Drossberg, Alfred, b. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Feb. 22, 1890, 
d. Innsbruck (Tyrol), April 27, 1980, Professor of International Law, 
legal philosopher. Initially a diplomat, from 1922 professor at the 
Consular Academy, 1924-1960 University Professor in Vienna, 1958-1977 
judge at the Court of Justice for Human Rights of the European Union. 
V.-D. renewed traditional Christian international law studies and 
founded a Catholic school of legal philosophy based on the teachings 
of St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas.
