Virginier (Virginia cigar), long, slender Austrian cigar with a straw 
mouthpiece, produced continuously since 1844 except during the Second 
World War and the immediate post-war period up to 1949. Available in 
three quality grades (1998), ''Virginier, Spezial Regie Virginier,'' 
and'' Jubilaeums-Virginier''. In 1997 Austrian smokers bought 3.2 
million Virginia cigars; their market share in total cigar sales is 
10%.
