Pre-alps, collective morphographic term for regions of the upland 
regions on the Northern rim of the Austrian Alps in Austria. They form 
the boundary of the  Alpine Foreland in the south, geologically they 
comprise the  Flysch Zone and in the east, the northern part of the  
Northern Limestone Alps. A typical example of a Pre-alpine region are 
the  Vienna Woods.
