Wagenseil, Georg Christoph, b. Vienna, Jan. 29, 1715,
d. Vienna, March 1, 1777, musician; his compositions lie between
Baroque and Viennese Classicism; as a pianist he was the last
representative of the Vienna organist school (transition to the piano
concerto of the classicist period); 1739 court composer, 1749 Imperial
pianist, music tutor to the imperial family.
