Wagner, Leopold, b. Klagenfurt (Carinthia), Dec. 4, 1927, teacher 
and politician (SPOe, Austrian Social Democratic Party). 1965-1973 
provincial party secretary (SPOe) in Carinthia, 1973-1988 provincial 
party chairman. 1966-1970 member of the Bundesrat, 1970-1973 
Landesrat, 1973-1974 Deputy Landeshauptmann in Carinthia and 1974-1988 
Landeshauptmann. Amongst other things aimed to improve the economic 
development of Carinthia. In Oct. 1987 was severely injured in an 
assassination attempt and resigned from all political functions.
