Waitschach, Carinthia, small rural settlement in the district of 
St. Veit an der Glan, alt. 1,155 m (formerly called Maria 
Waitschach), above the Goertschitztal valley, divided between the 
municipalities of  Guttaring and Huettenberg. - Late-Gothic parish and 
pilgrimage church (first documented mention 1390, building from the 
15%%sup th/% /16%%sup th/%  centuries, originally surrounded by a 
fortification structure) with Roman sepulchral relief, high altar 
(around 1670) with late-Gothic pilgrimage painting (2%%sup nd/%  
quarter of the 15%%sup th/%  century), so-called landscape altar 
(1626) richly decorated with figures and ornaments, Gothic charnel 
house.
