Walheim, Alfred, b. Sopron, Hungary (then Oedenburg), Nov. 5, 
1874, d. Vienna, Dec. 21, 1945. Studied German philology, 
politician (Landbund). 1923-1934 member of the Landtag of the province 
of Burgenland; several times provincial councillor; 1923-1924 and 
1931-1934 Landeshauptmann of the province of Burgenland, which 
received this name on his suggestion. 1924-1925 member of the 
Bundesrat. Wrote ballads and poetry, including political poetry for 
the "Scherer".
