d. Leoben (Styria), March 2, 1974. Farmer and politician 
(Austrian People´s Party, OeVP), political prisoner in 1938 and 
1944. 1945-1961 member of the Landtag of the province of Styria, 
1945-1949 and 1952-1961 president of the Styrian Landtag; 1961-1970 
member of the Nationalrat, 1962-1970 3rd president of the Nationalrat, 
1960-1970 president of the Austrian  Bauernbund (Farmers Union).
