Walzel, Camillo (pseudonym: F. Zell), b. Magdeburg (Germany),
Feb. 11, 1829, d. Vienna, March 17, 1895. Feuilletonist and
librettist; father of Oskar Walzel. Lived in Vienna from 1847; from
1871, together with R. Genee, developed the text form for the classic
Viennese operetta; 1884-1889 artistic director of the Theater an der
Wien.
