Wander, Maxie, b. Vienna, Jan. 3, 1933, d. Kleinmachnow near 
Berlin (Germany), Nov. 20, 1977. Narrative writer, script writer, 
journalist. Wife of Fred  Wander. In 1955 went to East Germany and in 
1977 became famous overnight with her compilations of texts "Guten 
Morgen, Du Schoene. Protokolle nach Tonband", about the experiences of 
women in East Germany. In diary entries and letters she tried to come 
to terms with the cancer she was suffering from ("Leben waer´ 
eine prima Alternative", published by F. Wander, 1980).
