!!!Weißenkirchner Weißkircher, Hans Adam

b. Laufen (Germany), Feb. 10, 1646, 
d. Graz (Styria), Jan. 26, 1695, painter; brother of Wolf  
Weissenkirchner the Younger. After studying in Venice and Rome, lived 
and worked from 1678 in Graz as court painter of the Prince of 
Eggenberg, for whom he created his major work, the ceiling and wall 
frescoes in  Eggenberg Palace (Planetensaal, completed 1685). He also 
did numerous altarpieces in Styria, e.g. in the  Ehrenhausen 
Mausoleum, in Strassgang, Bruck an der Mur and Stainz, and in Graz in 
the Stiegenkirche ("church of stairs"), the Ursulinenkirche church and 
the Dominikanerkirche church.
