Weibel, Peter, b. Pleszew, Poland (then Pleschen), March 5, 1944. 
Action artist, director, journalist, commentator and curator of 
exhibitions. From 1984 Professor of Visual Communications at the 
College of Applied Arts in Vienna (on leave since 1998), 1992-1995 
artistic manager of the  Ars Electronica in Linz; since 1999 head of 
the Centre for Art and Media Technology (Zentrum fuer Kunst und 
Medientechnologie at Karlsruhe in Germany. Numerous publications on 
the media, photography and art; awarded the Siemens Media Art Prize in 
1997 (with V. Flusser and I. Guenther).
