Weitersfeld, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Horn, alt. 
441 m, pop. 1,842, area 87.20 km%%sup 2/%, in the north-east 
of Waldviertel Region. - Wood processing industry (firebrigade 
building and the musicians' home built of wood in modern style); 
alcohol distillery, production of fuel from oil-seed rape, warehouse 
cooperative. - Parish church with Gothic choir, nave (1728-1731), 
tower raised in 1721, late-Baroque interior (1774) and splendid 
late-Rococo altar (1774), remarkable Renaissance tombstones; pillory 
(1544). In the cadastral district of Sallapulka is the pilgrimage 
church of Maria im Gebirge, with Romanesque remains and Gothic tower; 
the present nave was added in 1647.
