Welitsch, Ljuba, b. Borissowo (Bulgaria), July 10, 1913, 
d. Vienna, Sept. 1, 1996. Kammersaengerin* (soprano). 1937-1940 
with the Stadttheater Graz, 1946-1962 with the Vienna State Opera; 
best remembered for her outstanding Salome in R. Strauss' opera; acted 
in films, international guest performances.
