Werfen Strata, major rock formation from the Early Triassic period in 
the Northern Limestone Alps; composed mostly of schist, to a smaller 
extent quartzite and limestone; mostly along the southern edge of the 
Limestone Alps, the Werfen Strata form a soft, hilly landscape.
