!!!Wertheim, Franz Freiherr von

b. Krems an der Donau (Lower Austria), April 12, 1814, 
d. Vienna, April 3, 1883, industrialist. Started producing tools in 
1841, fireproof and burglar-proof cashboxes in 1851 and safes in 1867, 
which became known as "W.-Kassen". In 1863 H. von Ferstel 
designed a palace for him in Vienna (Palais Wertheim in Vienna at the 
corner of Ringstrasse/Schwarzenbergplatz), in 1869 Josef Strauss 
composed the polka "Feuerfest" (fireproof). The enterprise produces 
vaults, safes and bank equipment.
