Meteorological Service, in Austria generally carried out by the  
Zentralanstalt fuer Meteorologie und Geodynamik, separate institute 
for civil aviation  Austro Control (6 regional offices), military 
meteorological service (reports to the Ministry of Defence). Main 
areas of activity are: compiling and distributing weather reports from 
all over the world, preparing weather analyses, forecasts and warnings 
for all fields of economic activity, transport and aviation, and the 
study of climatological issues including problems of environmental 
protection. The activities and objectives of the meteorological 
service have been coordinated with the guidelines of the World 
Meteorological Organization (WMO). The meteorological service for 
aviation is also subject to the standards of the International Civil 
Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
