Wiener Neudorf, Lower Austria, market town in the district of 
Moedling, alt. 205 m, pop. 8,385, area 6.05 km%%sup 2/%, east of 
Moedling. - Offices of the Lower Austrian provincial government 
(vehicle testing authority), recreation centre, transformer station, 
workshop of the Second Lower Austrian Road Construction Department; 
7,177 persons in gainful employment (1991), around 52 % work in 
processing trades and industries. The industrial centre 
Niederoesterreich-Sued (area of the "Ostmark-Werke" works destroyed in 
1945) extends over the three municipalities of Wiener Neudorf, 
Biedermannsdorf, Laxenburg and Guntramsdorf and is the location of 
branches of 650 companies (2000), including companies producing 
plastic plates and pipes, petroleum products, construction material 
and industrial robots; logistics centre, training centre, 
trade-dominated service industries. Also located there are the 
headquarters of a chain of retail stores, shops selling interior 
furnishings and building material (largest DIY store in Central 
Europe), machines, kitchen utensils, utility vehicles, bakery products 
etc. Large forwarding agency. - Maria Schnee parish church, late 
Baroque domed church (1778) with open portico.
