!!!Wiener Sport-Club, WSC

Wiener Sport-Club, WSC, football association emerging from the union 
of the Wiener Cyclisten-Club (founded in 1883) and the Wiener 
Sportvereinigung; located in Dornbach (17th district of Vienna). The 
team became Austrian champion in 1922, 1958 and 1959 and was the 
winner of the cup in 1922. In 1974 the Austrian first division was 
reduced from 17 to 10 clubs, which meant that the WSC dropped by one 
division, but the managed to regain their position in 1977. By the 
late 1980s the club was having serious difficulties and was declared 
bankrupt in 1994. Since then the club has been unable to gain its 
former position and reputation.
